Study Event: OL Campus topping-out ceremony

Location: Budapest, MOL Campus (construction site)

Service: Live drone image broadcasting, LED walls, extreme logistics

The Challenge

The topping-out ceremony (reaching the highest point of the building) is a milestone in the construction of a skyscraper. In the case of the MOL Campus, this meant a height of 143 meters. The task was not simple: the center of the event was set up on the fifth floor, but the spectacle (hoisting the wreath) had to take place on the roof. How could the press (down in the courtyard) and the VIP guests (inside on the 5th floor) simultaneously see what was happening 140 meters above their heads, in real time? To make matters worse, the building was still structurally complete: the elevators were not working, making it impossible to transport tons of sensitive technical equipment in the traditional way.

The Solution: Logistics and High-Tech

The ADAM team developed a complex operational plan with military precision:

  • Night Operation: Since the elevators were not functional, all the stage technology and LED walls were lifted in by tower crane onto the 5th floor under the cover of night, through the facade. This required extreme caution to ensure neither the building nor the equipment was damaged.
  • Drone in the Heights: The wreath's 143-meter journey was not filmed from below. A professional drone ascended to the height, and its image was wirelessly transmitted back to the ground receivers without delay.
  • Hybrid Broadcast: The signal from the drone and the handheld cameras recording the moment of the handover was streamed simultaneously in two directions:

    • To the Press: Journalists waiting downstairs followed the events on an external LED wall (signal transmission was solved with over 100 meters of cabling).
    • To the VIPs: The management on the 5th floor watched the live broadcast on an indoor, high-resolution LED wall.

Results in Numbers

  • 143 meters high live drone footage recorded.
  • 100+ meters signal transmission distance to the press location.
  • 0 elevators: All equipment was moved with a crane and a GEDA hoist.
  • Synchronized servicing of 2 locations (VIP and Press).

Client Feedback

"This was not a sterile conference room, but an active construction site. The ADAM team professionally adapted to the spartan conditions. The crane lifting at night, followed by the flawless live broadcast from the drone the next day, proved that no height is impossible for them." – Kadabra Kft
